OCEAN ROWING ARRIVES ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB
As gale force winds, driving rain and strong seas batter the coastline of the tiny island of La Gomera in the Canary Islands, the twenty six teams entered in to the Atlantic Rowing Race 2005, are highly relieved that the start of the Race was postponed.
As forecast, the effects of a tropical revolving storm out in the Atlantic have created an adverse weather system around the Canary Islands, which if the race had started as originally planned on Sunday, could have caused many problems for the teams on what would have been their first 24 hours of the Race.
The bad weather is due to move through fairly quickly and by midday tomorrow the conditions will have improved greatly with perfect conditions for ocean rowing forecast for Wednesday. Based on this information, Race organiser, Woodvale Events is pleased to announce that the rescheduled start date for the Atlantic Rowing Race 2005 is confirmed at 12:00 hours GMT on Wednesday 30 November 2005.
Although only two days away, Wednesday can not come soon enough for the competitors whose two years of training, preparations and hard work are now complete. The anticipation, excitement and competitiveness among the race fleet was clearly evident yesterday during the first ever running of the Gomera Cup and proves that the Atlantic Rowing Race 2005 is set to be the most closely run ocean rowing race yet.
